Supermodel Jodie Kidd's Oli Fashion Launch Party

06/07/2007

Windy, cloudy and rainy, yes it's British Summertime again.  Last night we were invited to a fashion launch party so we braved the stormy weather, put on our glad rags and headed into the West End.  Supermodel Jodie Kidd along with other designers has joined forces with the brand 'Oli' and, to celebrate her first collection for fashion label Oli's Fusion range, she hosted a launch party at the sleek and stylish Haymarket Hotel, the latest elegant boutique style hotel designed by the Firmdale hotel group.  Here, we were treated to a ten minute fashion show with models showcasing trendy outfits, strutting their long lean legs on a square catwalk constructed around the hotel's luxurious indoor swimming pool.

This was probably most men's idea of paradise watching slender girls sipping champagne by the pool leaving the outnumbered male onlookers panting.  Men were in the ideal place for girl watching and if overheated they could easily have taken a dip in the pool to cool themselves off.  Mini hamburgers in a bun along with canapés were being offered around but those ladies watching their weight just ignored the existence of food and pressed on with champagne and cocktail drinking whilst the Paparazzi eagerly snapped away at the gorgeous eye candy.  A melange of designers, fashionistas, TV personalities, PR companies and press attending made it a prize opportunity for those in the industry to get out their little black notebooks.

Jodie Kidd herself seemed a lovely approachable person with no airs and graces and was accompanied by her mother Wendy who stood by Jodie observing all whilst Jodie chatted to guests, press and fans at the party.  We asked Jodie to have a couple of snaps taken with us and she was very obliging, the six-foot British blonde beauty towered over all of us!
