Article 1  Janet Jackson's No1's World Tour Comes to London's Royal Albert Hall

Multi award-winning recording artiste Janet Jackson was back enjoying the limelight in London after a long spell to perform her No 1's concert world tour.  I had approached Janet's press managers to request an interview but was told unfortunately she wasn't doing any interviews.

On Friday Janet appeared as a guest on the Paul ‘O Grady TV show and looked on top form and she said she's now more comfortable with herself than she's ever been.  Saturday 2nd July I happened to be at Nobu in Park Lane having drinks with friends and much to my surprise Janet walked in to dine at the restaurant!  I was delighted to have seen her unexpectedly at Nobu the night before I was due to see her in concert!

Sunday night was Janet Jackson's closing show at Royal Albert Hall and it was great to see her performing all her No1 hits from the last two decades.  During the show, footage of Janet from past to present was projected on screen including exerts from TV sitcoms she featured in as a child and teenager.  Her duet with her brother Michael Jackson ‘Scream' was included amongst the hits performed and the video was shown on screen while Janet performed the routine on stage.

Although Janet Jackson's performance was faultless there were however some aspects of the show which I felt could have been better produced for example, Janet's costumes - might have been nice to see some high glamour brought into the show rather than just the urban street style during the entire show. Also, the show was lacking in exciting visuals and I thought the choreography was at times not as spell binding as it could have been. After the interval the show became more entertaining especially Janet's high energy performance of ‘Rhythm Nation' which was as slick as ever and Janet's voice sounded in good harmony when she sung ballads or upbeat tracks.

Janet continues to evolve as an artiste and it was good to see her make a comeback keeping the Jackson name at the forefront.  Two years ago I met Tito Jackson in London and I'm still hopeful that I'll also get to interview Janet next time...to me the Jacksons will always be pop music royalty, love them!

Article 2  Violet Darkling Jewellery Preview - No 11 Private Members Club Knightsbridge

Following a recent launch of a new luxury jewellery line designed by Diane Von Furstenberg & H Stern at The Penthouse Harrods, Pukka PR was invited to the ‘Violet Darkling' jewellery preview hosted by Ultra Vie.  The Violet Darkling first jewellery collection was showcased at the No 11 boutique private members Club/Hotel in Knightsbridge, an ideal intimate setting for Ultra Vie members & guests to view jewellery in the club's plush drawing room.

Violet Darkling was created by New Zealand born Louisa Richwhite whose collection was ‘'inspired by the darkness and all things nocturnal." Some of the designs have a gothic feel to them made from silver/gold with semi precious gem stones. The jewellery & accessories have a quirky concept inspired by ‘creatures of the night' for example the tiny Tarsier known as the smallest primate with its bulging huge eyes and funny ears.  The collection caters for women and men as in cufflinks for the latter and is reasonably priced for designer jewellery.

Moet & Chandon champagne, cocktails and finger sandwiches were offered while guests viewed the jewellery displays and, being a warm summer's day many people stood sipping drinks on the terrace.  In keeping with the violet theme, a selection of pretty mini cupcakes with violet icing & blueberries and white chocolate vanilla cakes were provided by ‘Sweetness & Light.' We met the cake-maker Louise who loves making cakes and bakes at her home in Canary Wharf.

Given that the location was on the borders of Knightsbridge and Chelsea it wasn't surprising to see Francesca from TV series ‘Made in Chelsea' at the event with friends.  We met the Violet Darkling jewellery designer Louisa and her parents together with friends and other guests.

The discreet No 11 club is housed in an attractive building with Victorian features and is owned by developer Paul Davies who restored and designed the club.  The interior is decorated with luxurious furnishings throughout keeping to a traditional theme yet creating a warm welcoming atmosphere. The club's facilities include hotel rooms and apartments, function rooms, lounge bars, the Gym and a Spa.  We explored other rooms including the library and the restaurant which is made up of a main dining area plus other private dining rooms.

Thanks go out to Violet Darkling's professional PR/sales team, No11 club for their hospitality and to Ultra Vie for managing and hosting another successful event covered by Pukka PR.
